About the Film
It’s just another night babysitting little Lucas. Sure, Helen has to convince Lucas the boogeyman isn’t hiding in his closet before he drifts off to sleep, but what kid doesn’t get the bedtime jitters courtesy of urban legends? Too bad for Helen, and Lucas for that matter, the story of the man who snatches up little children is as real as ever. With Helen’s strapping boyfriend Tom by their side, Lucas and Helen must find a way to keep clear of the clutches of the maniacal and murderous Robert Bowery.
Shortly after meeting for the first time in the Columbia University Film MFA program, producer Perri Nemiroff and writer-director Erlingur Thoroddsen realized that their like-minded sensibilities and deep love of the horror genre was the perfect recipe for a strong working relationship and the ability to make a bona-fide horror short. Inspired by the likes of A Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween, CHILD EATER is meant to recall classic late 70s and early 80s slasher movies, but with a decidedly modern edge to it.
In conjunction with an incredibly talented and hardworking cast and crew, and with the support of family, friends, peers and teachers, Perri and Erlingur brought CHILD EATER to life and now look forward to sharing it with audiences all over the world, hoping to leave moviegoers with the need to double check that their closets are really empty before turning out the lights.
